| In the late 1980s, I became a fan of the then long-running British television series Doctor Who. I found the show to be inovative and full of striking characters and images. A local group of fans began producing a fanzine called The Peladon Press sometime around 1989 and I felt that I might be able to contribute some artwork for the mag. At the time, I was just beginning to develop my inking style. Occasionally I'd use fairly bold lines rather than the dot patterns, but the seeds are there. As the images here demonstrate, I met with varying degrees of success. Most of the images here were featured on either the front or back cover of The Peladon Press, with the exception of Tom Baker in The Talons of Weng Chiang image. That particular piece was used for an advertisement in another fanzine promoting my shop. All of my work was laid out in pencil initially. Then inks were laid down using Rotring Rapioliner pens in varying tip sizes. Larger areas of black were simply brushed in. At the time I was dead lazy about backgrounds and generally used Letratone to fill in the blank areas. |

| Brian Blessed as King Yrcanos. Probably my best, certainly my favorite, piece of the 1989-1990 period. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Anthony Ainley as the The Master. Another cover for The Peladon Press. Drawn before meeting the man in Columbus, Ohio that same year. I recall being quite pleased with this piece at the time. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| My first attempt at DW art featured Jon Pertwee and Liz Sladen. Appeared on the cover of the 1st issue of The Peladon Press. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| My first crack at Sylvester McCoy as the 7th Doctor. Bolder linework than my later pieces. Another cover for The Peladon Press. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Sophie Aldred as the Doctor's companion Ace. I had drawn the image just after meeting her in Chicago. A back cover for The Peladon Press. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Peter Davison as the 5th Doctor with his companions Sarah Sutton and Mark Strickson. This composite piece never much pleased me but was used as a back cover regardless. To the right we have a very early drawing of Jon Pertwee and Patrick Troughton as the 3rd and 2nd Doctor. No dots to be found at this time. Originally each was on a page of his own with a villain looking on. Used as back covers for issues 2 and 3 of The Peladon Press. |

| Probably my most ambitious of The Peladon Press covers. Once again we have Sylvester McCoy as the 7th Doctor, this time flanked by...umm... Cheetah people! This the cover used on the last issue of The Peladon Press and was also the last time that I ever drew any DW derived artwork. A somewhat more somber and realistic image than the previous Sylvester McCoy cover. It was drawn shortly after meeting him in Chicago in 1990. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
